This past weekend my search for ground textures was partially thwarted by Mother Nature and some early season snow. My plan was to head up to Niwot Ridge from Long Lake within the Brainard Lake recreation area via a short connector trail that I knew was forested and would provide a variety of ground cover. As soon as I began up the early section of the trail I encountered a few inches of snow which only became deeper as I gained elevation. My goal for capturing 20-30 new forest floor specific textures was obviously going to have to happen at lower elevation but I was able to capture a couple of decent images.
The winter conditions provided for some rock and ice textures which I wasn't expecting to find yet. Given that this is Colorado and the weather can be sudden and dynamic I really shouldn't be too surprised.
